An Insight
What is our commitment?
If we as women were to make a commitment to the everlasting peace of relationships while honoring our individual drives and talents, what would that commitment look like? Would it be a commitment of such magnitude that it could alter the very existence of the way in which the world is presently conducted? What would be the awareness required before we were to make such a commitment? Would that awareness be about the very nature of ourselves as women? Could that awareness lead to fundamental shifts in relationship? Would this understanding allow us to respect and be respected by men so differently that men would be in awe? Could our awesomeness magnify in such a way as to shift the powers that be significantly? A commitment to our own identity as women and together in sisterhood can manifest changes of such a scale as to affect and cure the causes of suffering. As gatekeepers and sponsors of worth/value, we can transform life. As providers of care/joy we can inspire life. As spiritual guides of compassion/respect we can dignify life.
Spiritual leadership is an ongoing experience of responsibility, balancing the feminine and masculine powers to find peace. This entails a commitment to realizing your importance as a sponsor of the essentials of humanity, that you matter, and that others matter. More important, spiritual leadership entails a commitment to maintaining the well-being of humanity that starts on a personal level. This is the domain of women. This commitment begins with the relationship to yourself and with your significant other–the primary examples of wholeness and polarities. Appreciating the health of relationship or guiding relationship toward health is key to all relationships.
Our relationships with men and their relationships with each other need to be addressed. What would we want men to do for us? How could they establish their manhood without the need for war or destruction? Could the man’s world of fighting darkness and struggling to secure resources be experienced as a means toward establishing honor, revitalizing man’s self-respect and value? Could the man’s world be revolutionized through care, turning it into service as a way of living? Addressing these issues for women together is a commitment of spiritual guidance for humanity.
